Congratulations to our 2021 Road Safety Student Art Contest Winners
We are pleased to recognize the winners of the 2021 Road Safety Student Art Contest. This year’s contest challenged students ranging from kindergarten through high school to create motivational artwork that included safety messaging for all roadway users — truck and bus operators, passenger vehicle drivers, motorcyclists, scooter riders, bicyclists, skateboarders, and pedestrians. This was the first year FMCSA accepted submissions from students in 7th grade through 12th grade.
FMCSA and the Our Roads, Our Safety Partnership hosts this annual contest to engage youth and educate future drivers in a fun and creative way. We recognize that the future of roadway safety begins with our upcoming generation, providing youth with the tools and knowledge that empowers them to safely navigate the roadways and interact with other drivers.
U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Deputy Administrator Meera Joshi announced the winners via a congratulatory video.
The winners will be showcased in the U.S. Department of Transportation headquarters building in Washington, D.C., as well as featured in the 2022 Road Safety Student Art calendar, which will be available later this year.
Grand Prize winners:
- Kindergarten — 5th Grade Category: Avni Choudepally, Cary, North Carolina
- 6th — 8th Grade Category: Amy Lin, Belle Meade, New Jersey
- 7th-10th Grade Category: Abigail Regnier, Jefferson City, Missouri
- 11th — 12th Grade Category: Olivia Stone, Anchorage, Alaska
