- Ask for recommendations from neighbors and friends. Obtain an estimate from at least three companies to compare costs and services provided.
- Use our free database of registered movers and brokers to review any complaints made against a moving company and confirm their insurance information. The database will help you understand your options and select a registered company.
- Review all information provided by your mover or broker. You’ll be provided with an estimate of the cost of your move; a bill of lading, which is essentially a receipt of your belongings; and an inventory list that indicates the condition of all your belongings.
- When scheduling the pickup and delivery of your goods, ensure that you or someone you trust is available to supervise the loading and unloading of your boxes.
