Calling all organizations and government agencies looking to improve commercial motor vehicle safety on America’s roads.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) grants are now open. These are competitive federal grant opportunities awarded at the agency’s discretion.
Below are the available grant programs, the associated opportunity number used on www.grants.gov to identify a grant program. These grants close on Monday, April 3, 2023.
High Priority-Commercial Motor Vehicle (HP-CMV) — FM-MHP-23–001
- HP-CMV funds activities and projects that improve CMV safety, including increasing public awareness, conducting safety data improvement projects, and developing new technologies.
High Priority-Innovative Technology Deployment (HP-ITD) — FM-MHP-230 002
- HP-ITD provides funding for the development, deployment, and maintenance of intelligent transportation system technology to support CMV operations.
Commercial Driver’s License Program Implementation (CDLPI) — FM-CDL-23–001
- CDLPI is focused on the execution and improvement of the national Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) program, including ensuring compliance with federal regulations governing the CDL program and achieving the mission of “One Driver– One License — One Record.”
Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator Safety Training Program (CMVOST) — FM-DTG-23–001
- CMVOST’s purpose is to increase the number of CDL holders who have received enhanced operator safety training (with a focus on assisting current or former members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their spouses transition to CMV careers.
Eligibility for each grant program is available here. For-profit organizations and individuals are NOT eligible recipients.
FMCSA will host three funding conferences to help those interested in applying for available federal grant funding in 2023. Funding conferences will help applicants choose an appropriate discretionary grant program for their project and type of organization, cover the steps needed to successfully apply, and list key FMCSA contacts.
