Women of Trucking Advisory Board (WOTAB) — Empowering Through Leadership, Knowledge, and Industry Support, to Safely Navigate the Roads with Confidence
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is proud to announce the launch of the Women of Trucking Advisory Board (WOTAB). Under the support of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), WOTAB aims to provide education, training, mentorship, and outreach to women in the trucking industry; and recruit, retain, or advance women in the trucking industry. Currently, FMCSA’s WOTAB is accepting applications for candidates who wish to reside on the board. You may find information regarding the application at https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/wotab. Applications are being excepted, though, Friday, April 15, 2022.
In addition to WOTAB, FMCSA welcomes the implementation of the Trucking Leasing Task Force (TLTF), the TLTF will provide collaborative functions that promote and advance the mission and goals defined by WOTAB. The TLTF will examine the terms, conditions, and equitability of common truck leasing arrangements, particularly as they impact owner-operators and trucking businesses subject to such agreements. Additionally, TLTF is charged with reviewing and reporting on financing arrangements among motor carriers, entry-level drivers, driver training providers, other involved entities, and will identify potential illegal practices to law enforcement or regulators as appropriate. FMCSA encourages diverse, non-traditional representatives, especially women and people of color, to apply to serve on the task force. To apply, please visit https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/tltf. With the implementation of both WOTAB and TLTF, FMCSA envisions innovative change and opportunity focused around women of trucking. With the collaborative support of congress, FMCSA, USDOT, and USDOL leadership, the goals of both WOTAB and TLTF can be accomplished.
